Q: How do you create a police state in the mythical country of Zugoland?A: You want complacent and subservient citizens who have been conditioned to accept — and even welcome — automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in the streets, roads, train and bus stations, and airports.
Never mind the fact that liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. And never mind the fact that subservient societies neither maintain, nor deserve freedom for long.
The Black Shirts
Q: How do you create a police state in the mythical country of Zugoland?A: If you're a Zugoland politician, create a police force similar to the Black Shirts, the fascist paramilitary group in Italy under Mussolini, or the infamous Nazi SS police.
Create an environment where all it takes is an unsubstantiated call by a disgruntled neighbor, and the Black Shirts will raid you and take you down.
Escalate police actions from a polite knock on the door and discussion to SS-type raids where the police will shoot you first and ask questions later.
The Constitution
Q: How do you create a police state in the mythical country of Zugoland?A: If you're a Zugoland politician, treat the Constitution like as if it was just a list of suggestions that can be cherry-picked by police officers.
Ensure that police officers bypass the Constitution to get search warrants.
Ensure that police officers subject the private citizens' homes to unreasonable searches and seizures.
