MODx attitudes

How do you tell if MODx sucks?
Let's consider how MODx treats us, end users. I believe MODx sucks because we, end users, are mistreated and ignored by MODx. I believe MODx sucks because MODx is made for a private club of second-string programmers associated with MODx. Because they're the ones who eke out a subsistence living from the never-ending manual processes associated with MODx. I believe MODx sucks because MODx was never designed for us, end users. We, end users, want just the opposite; we want one-click updates and no changes!

MODx defects

How do you tell if MODx sucks?
Let's consider how many bugs MODx will bring to you. I believe MODx sucks because it brings approx. 10,000 PHP scripts and software dependencies. You're allowed many bugs in HTML. However you're allowed no bugs in PHP scripts. I believe MODx sucks because it has far more bugs than the hundreds of bugs that their programmers are willing to acknowledge.

MODx difficulties

How do you tell if MODx sucks?
Let's consider the sudden lack of information that MODx brings. I believe MODx sucks because, based on my experience, MODx is largely undocumented. I believe MODx sucks because it's difficult to use an undocumented CMS. I believe MODx sucks because, in my experience, you will slowly but surely kill yourself, if you try to use an undocumented CMS, such as MODx.

MODx failures

How do you tell if MODx sucks?
Let's consider the unreliability that MODx brings. When I started using MODx, I had no idea that I would face reliability issues because of MODx, and only because of MODx. Now that I do have MODx experience, I must say MODx sucks because if you use MODx it makes your web site complex, cumbersome and subject to failures. I believe MODx sucks because on my other web sites I couldn't even get started, using MODx, because the installation was a problem again and again! Perhaps because the only MODx installation was a manual one.

MODx hackers

How do you tell if MODx sucks?
If you use MODx, your site will be hacked by hackers. The issue is, once you start using MODx, you will attract hackers who specialize in MODx and PHP. They will take advantage of the fact that the MODx code is freely available, but you can't read it. Your site will be hacked; first for your password — even when you keep changing your password. Then it will be hacked for web site modifications — so that they can include their own messages and blocks of code you don't want, but can't see. Or you can see, want to get rid of, but you can't.

MODx irrelevance

How do you tell if MODx sucks?
I believe MODx sucks because MODx is irrelevant as to content management. Because, if you can write and upload your own HTML code, then you don't need MODx. Because, by writing and uploading your own HTML code, you ARE managing the content of your site. Alternatively, if you don't write your own HTML code, then you also don't need MODx — because MODx won't write your own HTML code for you. ...More >>
